Re-writers of history would have you believe that Republicans were responsible for the Jim Crow laws that dominated the South for decades. However, it was Democrats who enacted, enforced and opposed any effort to abolish those racists practices. In fact, Jim Crow legislation remained on the books here in Georgia until THIS YEAR when they were repealed by Georgia's first ever Republican controlled legislature.
